Audi is reportedly reducing its ambition for 2019 with now 45.000 units foreseen for 2019 – a little more than 10’000 less than initially scheduled.
The reason for that is that Audi is relying on a single supplier for its batteries:LG Chem and they are not delivering as planned and also at a higher price thanks to their dominant position.
Added to that, is also a shortage on electric motors, produced in house by Audi in Györ (Hungary), because of a recent strike that happened there.
Now the Brussel plant is only running 6 hours a day instead of 8 and the delivery time has gone up 2 months to 6/7 months.
